Progress up till date (reported up till mid March 2017)

  • Recognition of the Waste Department by the Head Quarters triggered by the SC4Gh (starting with the Duapa Awards)
  • Establishment of the Technical Committee for SC4Gh (explore technologies and quality assure)
  • Renewed community outreach and sensitisation every other week
  • Stakeholder consultation now key to the process than before
  • Unlike GAMA, the team work and clarity of roles has been great,
  • Fund mobilisation areas are well explored with a range partnership opportunities – GAMA, WSUP, SPIS, IWMI, KNUST Institute of waste Management
  • First training on stakeholder Mobile App platform (with WSUP) held (GPS location of trucks, fees charged, etc.)
  • Review of bye-laws currently ongoing and OD guidelines for taskforce developed but orientation yet to be done
  • The Challenge can be associated with the closure of the Lavender Hill
  • New energy as a department geared towards ensuring full implementation, learning and team building
