October 1, 2018 – The World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General, Dr Tedros today noted that “Sanitation prevents disease and promotes human dignity and well-being, making it the perfect expression of WHO’s definition of health…” as he introduces the new: WHO Guidelines on Sanitation and Health

Drawing on rigorous evidence reviews; these guidelines provide comprehensive and authoritative advice on maximizing the health impact of sanitation interventions. Marking a major new focus area for WHO, we envisage that they will take a proud place alongside our Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality as a fundamental WASH normative document, influencing policies and actions on sanitation for decades to come”. – WHO newsletter
